Hi All!!! Since last time we have had 2 big events take place in Merrick's steps in life from being a toddler to a big boy. Last week Monday he started SWIM LESSONS! In the course they teach them to blow bubbles, put their head in the water, float, kick, and pretty much just introduce the water. They play games and sing songs. Merrick's favorites are Itsy Bitsy Spider and Ring Around the Rosie! Since Lincoln had off last Monday he went in with Merrick for the 1st swim lesson so I could take some pictures. Merrick loves it! He has swim lessons M,W,F through the month of July for 30 mins at a time which is perfect for his age. Today however he was slightly upset becuase the last few weeks we have gone down with Lynston and her kids to her mother-in-laws pool. Merrick thought that we were headed to "Mama Dru's" and when there was no Paxton he refused to do any of the swim lesson clinging to my neck or waist the entire time. If I tried to pull him off it resulted in the blood curdling scream! :} Im hoping it will be better Wednesday!
The next big event of the week is our POTTY CHART. Merrick has randomly gone potty on the big boy potty and I know he can do it so this past week we decided to get serious! He's doing amazing. I made a chart so every time he goes potty he puts a sticker on his chart and gets a "suprise" from the candle bowl (smarties, sucker, gum, Jr. Mints!) and after getting 20 stickers he gets a small prize or we get to go somewhere fun. He got his 1st 20 stickers in a few days so we went to the half price book store for a book. He even told the check out lady..."Merrimick book potty!" She gave him an EXTRA sticker for getting a book because he was going potty!!! He just got his second 20 stickers so tomorrow we are headed to eat at Mc Donalds and play! He loves their cheesburgers!!! He has told me a few times that he has to go potty!!!
Since the peanut allergy we've had to limit ourselves as a family on what is in the house. One thing that has been hard for Merrick is the donut issue! He LOVES his donuts but anything made in a bakery is exposed to peanuts/tree nuts so he can not have them. I searched and searched for donuts he can have! GUESS WHAT!!!!???!!! We found organic donuts that Merrick can have! He ate 2 in 15 mins flat no joke! He was so excited about his "nonuts!"
Today Laura and I took the boys to Old Mc Donalds farm and then to the park for a picnic and some playtime! Kael and Merrick loved the ducks and one even laid an egg in the water..weird I know! But Merrick could harldy stand that the egg was in the water...he kept telling me "Mommy get egg water!" :) They had a blast looking at all the animals and running around together. They are quite the pair.
I bought this hawkeye stocking hat in college WAY before Merrick was even thought of! However he has taken over this hat and yes his head fits perfect! Anyways he will not take the dang thing off! He would wear it everywhere if Mommy would let him and insists putting it on himself! Even in the dead of summer he wants the stocking hat and not the baseball hat! Crazy kid!
Here are 2 random pics I have taken over the past week that I thought were too cute to not include. While I ran to get our towels to go to the pool Merrick decided to unpack the swimming bag and place his swimmer on his head! FUNNY BOY! The other pic is just truly how good of a dog Jazzi is and how much Merrick loves her!!!
