Hello all!!! How are you all surviving the winter chill?? Makes me miss spring, summer, and fall! We miss playing outside!! This week we found activities to do inside such as baking some Christmas cookies!! This is pretty much the only Christmas goodies Merrick can have. Most dipping white chocolate or milk chocolate has been processed w/ peanuts and for obvious reasons can not have almond bark! SOOO Christmas cookies it is...and Merrick had fun with the whole process. We did break it up over a 2 day span so he didnt tire of it easily.
Okay – now I have a Merrick story for you! Saturday I was working w/the USO @ DFW Airport. The ladies/girls that I volunteer with have all become very good friends and they hear a lot of stories about the Taylor family (more than a few have Merrick in them).
So, this past week we’re naturally all talking about Christmas, Christmas gatherings, Christmas gifts, etc. Anyway, they ask me what I’m giving to the kids and I tell them about finding these really cool “Wee Worship” CD’s, which are the classic songs we all used to sing in Sunday School. One of the ladies looked at me and said, “Did you get one of those for Merrick?” no lie. I said, “yes”, and they all started yelling “Amen!” It didn’t stop there – some soldiers asked what was going on so the ladies started telling their favorite Merrick stories. Again, no lie. They were telling the stories – not me. I’d only told the stories once but they apparently remember them and told the soldiers about you playing restaurant and him serving you cheese”burgers”, about the day at the zoo when he “wasn’t ready for nice” but by far, the “Amen” story was the hands down favorite. The soldiers were cracking up. Their flight was delayed from 3:00pm to 11pm so we were with them for several hours and they kept coming up and talking about the “little dude”. When they got on the plane (as they were headed back to Iraq/Afghanistan) a couple turned around and yelled at me to “Take Care of the Little Dude.” I wish I would have had the soldiers record a greeting to Merrick on my camera but didn’t think about it until too late. Next time.
Daddy is teaching Merrick how to ride his new stick horse.
Deane's parents came to join our festivities. Merrick like Ted and Mabe (or Babe as Merrick called her).
After full bellies and all the presents unwrapped Merrick again twisted Buger (aka Heath) into taking another nap! :)
Isn't this the most precious picture...I just love it!
Then Merrick mailed it :)
I must say there was a lot of finger licking going on during the decorating part of it ;)This past week I got an email from Lincoln's aunt Sherri....here's what she wrote:

Not sure if I was just emotional that day but it brought tears to my eyes. We (Lincoln and I) felt we needed to do something for the soldiers! For goodness sake they give our "little dude" a brighter tomorrow for his future. So the next day Merrick and I made homemade Christmas cards and took these pictures to place on the back of them and under the picture it says "Thanks for protecting our little dude. God Bless". Here are his military pics :)
I do have to say he's one of the cutest lil soldiers I've ever seen ;)This week he continued to play in his fort and found a fort buddy since "Mommy and Daddy's bodies too big for my fort" This fort buddy fits perfectly and was happy to lay on the blankets!
Friday before the storm hit the state of Iowa we headed to Des Moines to have Christmas with my dad and Deane. Merrick got some cool presents and poor Jazz has to watch out when the drums come out ;)Daddy is teaching Merrick how to ride his new stick horse.

Later that evening Merrick had some stored energy that needed burned so we headed to the mall which is only a minute drive from my dad's place to let him run and play at the kids play area.
While we were at the mall Santa was not there but Daddy and Merrick decided to write a letter to Santa at the kids area. Isn't this the most precious picture...I just love it!
Then Merrick mailed it :)
I hope you are all staying warm and cozy. Not much planned for this week except staying warm! Have a great week!!
