It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

I hope you all had a great week, Thanksgiving, and extended weekend. As Im sure you'll all agree ours went WAY to fast! This week marked the 1st week of Lincoln being home. He is "temporarily" laid off until it snows pretty much as his company is quitting for the winter. Do not be alarmed this is very normal for them as their employment months are usually from March-November Decemberish! We've enjoyed having Daddy home!
I have wanted to make some art to hang in Merrick's room and have done alot of google searches for some art for children's rooms at a reasonable cost. We started our 1st project. Footprint art! Since his room is airplaned themed we decided to make a footprint into an airplane the only thing I need to do now is frame and hang it!

I LOVED! how it turned out and Merrick had a lot of fun doing it too!!! This will be a nice "winter" project for us to work on.

THANKSGIVING...

For Thanksgiving we headed to Lincoln's parents house and had lunch along with his parents, his Grandpa and Grandma Boswell, Uncle Mike, and Levi and Jessie! It was a nice time to see everyone. Uncle Mike brought his guitar, sang to Merrick and let Merrick help him play and sing. Merrick loves "buitars"
Merrick also found the roping dumbie and had a little lesson in riding and roping by daddy...
Merrick also got the pedal tractor down and isn't quite big enough yet but was determined to make it move...
BLACK FRIDAY...

We headed back Thanksgiving afternoon for home since I had to work that night. I am done Christmas shopping (yes! Tami I said it again :) ) so I was not planning on going shopping AT ALL but staying home and making our home look like Christmas. Lincoln however is starting on the downstairs toyroom and say that Menards had 2x4s for CHEAP! on the 6am-11am sale. He wanted ALL of us to go. I told him it was gonna be crazy to that he responded "Who's gonna shop at Menards for Christmas??" So we went to humor him and we get there park in the grass and walk into 1 hr lines!!!! NUTS I TELL YOU!!! Luckily we had to go to the lumbar department where NO ONE was shopping and it was a quick trip...thank goodness he didnt have to buy anything but lumber cause Merrick would have not been humored by the wait!!! After our solo black Friday shopping trip we headed home to DECORATE!!!
The downstairs tree...

The snowman we had to put downstairs cause Merrick wouldn't leave his hat and nose alone!

The upstairs tree minus a star cause it broke and I was NOT! going back to the store for a star! That will come sometime this week...
Merrick's tree and RED Christmas lights around his closet...he is VERY PROUD of his "Tristmas wight room!" :)
Merrick's Advent Calendar...he didnt quite get that we have to wait until December 1st to start.

SATURDAY...

Saturday morning we left at 630 AM to go back home so Lincoln could help Dan clear trees away from the pond and I made sure Tami put her Christmas decor up! :) I also got a nice visit w/ Mom in that day too! While we were there Merrick got to sit on the digger with daddy and was in 7th heaven! ALL BOY!!!
SUNDAY...

Today was a day pretty much of catch up. After church I got some much needed catch up time while the boys took naps :) After nap "Santa" emailed Merrick...check out the link. It's pretty cute and you can see from the picture what Merrick thought if it.

NEW THINGS...
Some of Merrick's new things/new favorites...
1. Wants to wear a shirt with POCKETS at all times...He even goes as far as waking me in the night to change into a sweatshirt WITH pockets.
Last night I thought I would be ahead of the game and dress him in the sweatshirt of his choice BEFORE bed so he wouldn't wake me at 5am for a clothes change....no such luck! I still got woke up to SHOW ME THE POCKETS! He then goes back to sleep relativly quickly however mommy does not always fall back asleep so quickly!!! :)

2. Marshmellows and "Tisses"--since the face plant last weekend when he asked for a treat that night of the injury I gave him marshmellows as those were "easy and soft" to chew. Now he wants a bowl DAILY of these and today got the star and Christmas ones!!!
3. "Last one". I have used this phrase manytimes when Merrick is wanting a piece of candy, to turn on and off the lights, open and shut the doors...ect. So now when I have told him "no" he tells me "Last one mom!" He catches on WAY to quick!!!
4. "I'll have a turn" is the pharse he often uses when he wants to do something we are doing. EXAMPLES: "Using the remote, washing the dishes, taking a drink out of a "BIG" glass.
5. Wanting to call people on the cell phone and "leave you a message". So if any of you get a message from Merrick you'll know why! :)
NOSE UPDATE...
So as Im sure you can see from the pictures the bruising has faded nicely and the swelling is gone. Merrick has no complaints of pain and the stuffiness went away as soon as the swelling was gone THANK GOODNESS! I am SO VERY THANKFUL the incident did not turn out worse than it did...as a nurse I have seen TO MANY FREAK ACCIDENTS and when you realize what exactly could happen it makes my heart sink, palms sweat, and I get that sick feeling in my stomach. Some may call me too over protective but if thats what it takes to keep MY CHILD from having one of those freak accidents that is life altering so be it..call me what you may!!! Guess that's what you get for having a mom as a pediatric nurse :)
I hope you all had as good of a holiday weekend as we did. The next month is full of family gatherings, work parties, friends get togethers, and of course we have to try a ginger bread house this year! This week we are gonna try to see Santa during the week DAY! when Daddy's home so we don't have to fight the crowd like last year. Hope everyone had safe travels and a full tummy. We have so much to be thankful for this year as we do every year and are truly blessed! See you all next week!!!!
