It's that time of year! Awww it feels SO good! Football, hooded sweatshirts, jeans, brisk air! We LOVE IT!!! Hello FALL! This week was a pretty laid back week! Merrick has been doing good w/ his potty chart and chose play-do for his prize so we spent a lot of time playing play-do and making SNAKES! YUCK! This is one "sitting" activity that Merrick will do for an hour!!! I really forgot how fun play-do is!!! We have had a lot of fun with it this year!
As I've said before we LOVE fall...however it has felt a little "wintery" here! Merrick as you know had the diarrhea w/ samonella posioning, then croup, then the flu! SO last week we all felt good thought we were on the mend then Merrick woke up Thrusday kinda "snotty" and congested. By Friday Im pretty sure that croup virus is back!!! UGH! We knew when Merrick was hospitalized w/ the RSV his lungs wouldn't be as strong as if he hadn't had RSV and his immune system some what compromised but this croup stuff is long lasting and for the birds. He seems "OK" during the day but around lunch seems to be worn out more than usual and by evening that dang "barky" cough is back! He will occasionally get the stridoris breathing but I can seem to make it go away with warm fluids or a steamy bathroom! Thank goodness otherwise he would end up needing shots of steroids to open his airways. (Just like he needed the steroids w/ RSV!) For those of you who don't know exactly what croup is...its a virus that is usually found in kiddos under the age of 5 and is known for its seal or dog "bark" like cough. Croup usually causes cold like symptoms with occasional fever and breathing difficulties. Friday we had plans to help our friend Andrew celebrate his 25th birthday. (Merrick had even been practicing his "Happy Brithday") but Friday he woke up VERY congested, runny nose AND as the day progressed that BARKY cough! This is week 6 of him having "something!" I do realize it could be worse MUCH worse but honestly Im frusterated to keep having all this illness and its only the 1st week of SEPTEMBER! The picture below is a picture showing how much this croup stuff wears him out! He had already slept 2.5 hrs and came out to the living room to "sit with you mommy" when I looked over and he was SOUND asleep 10 mins later and slept ANOTHER 1.5 hrs! POOR BUDDY!!!
I guess the only good thing about Merrick not feeling up to snuff is that he is AWFULLY CUDDLY! :) Lincoln and I both LOVE him sitting with us so we can LOVE HIM UP!
Saturday as all of you know was the 1st Hawkeye game! Merrick was SO excited! to watch "hawkeye bootball!" He wore his helmet all morning and was so excited when we stopped by Aunt Amber and Uncle Nathan's for pizza that EVERYONE was wearing HAWKEYE gear!!! He's so such a Hawk fan!! It was nice on Saturday here that we even got to spend sometime outside to let Merrick throw the ball for the dogs AND flirt with the girls!!!
Saturday night Lincoln and I went to Wartburg! It was the Alumni game and 75th year of Wartburg football. The coaching staff was recognizing all alumni football players that night! It was great to catch up with such great friends!!!
Today we took time to just hang out and be a family....have I mentioned lately how we love our "little family of 3!" :) We grilled out this evening and Merrick LOVES to eat outside so we mad a picnic of grilled hotdogs and french fries!!! Jazzi even enjoyed the picnic :)
This week we are gonna just concentrate on getting healthy and STAYING that way! Say a prayer for our lil man if you're thinking of us! I know we'd all appreciate it! Have a great Labor day...I know we are looking foward to having Daddy home with us an extra day! See ya next week!!
